Coorg chicken curry

1 kg chicken cleaned and cut into 8 to 12 pieces,
2 onions,
3/4 fresh coconut grated,
5 cloves,
1/2 inch stick of cinnamon,
8 flakes of garlic,
1 inch cleaned and chopped ginger,
2 tsp red chili powder,
salt to taste,
1/4 tsp turmeric,
All the above masala has to be ground to a fine paste (add water as required while grounding),
For the Marinade:
2 tsp ginger garlic paste,
1 tsp red chili powder,
1/4 tsp turmeric,
2 tsp coriander powder,
Mix the above ingredients to the chicken and keep aside for 2 hrs
1. Slice onions and saute in 3 tsp of refined oil
2. Add the coconut masala to the onions and mix it on slow flame for 2 mins
3. Add the marinated chicken to the coconut masala, add enough water to get a thick gravy
4. Cover and let it boil for 5 mins, simmer and cook for another 15 mins
5. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with rice
