Ingredients

  • For Fish
  • 4 darnes of rohu / surmai
  • • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • • Salt as required
  • For Curry
  • 3 dry red chillies (seeds removed)
  • • 1 tsp panch phoran (cumin, fenugreek, fennel, mustard, onion seeds)
  • • 1 medium tomato (chopped)
  • • 2 cups water
  • • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • • 1 large potato (cut into wedges)
  • • Few coriander leaves
  • • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • • Salt as required

Method

  1. Fish
  2. Take the darnes of fish and marinate them with salt and turmeric.
  3. Keep aside for 20 minutes.
  4. • Now heat oil in a large pan and fry the fish for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove the fish from the pan and keep aside
  6. Curry
  7. In the same pan, add dry red chillies, panch phoran and let
  8. them splutter.
  9. • Add tomatoes and sauté till oil separates. Now add 2 cups water and
  10. mix well.
  11. • Add turmeric powder, potato, salt and let it simmer on a medium flame
  12. till the potatoes are cooked.
  13. • Add the fried fish and gently simmer for 4-5 minutes. Turn off the flame.
  14. • Lastly, add few coriander leaves and lime juice. Serve hot.
